Alberta R Edwards

Alberta R. Edwards, 91, of Fort Pierce, FL died Sunday July 29, 2012 at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center.

She was born on April 17, 1921 in Monticello, FL and has been a resident of Saint Lucie County for forty eight years.

Alberta was self-employed in the Day Care business.

She was a member of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church where she served as Deaconess, Missionary, and on the Pastor Aid Board. Alberta enjoyed attending Sunday School and BTU. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and Heroine of Jericho.

Survivors include her sons, James (Mary) Edwards, of Fort Pierce, FL; John (Bertha) Edwards, of Kankakee, IL; daughters, Elinda Faye Gilmore, of Rockledge, FL; Jacqueline Gilchrist, of Sanford, FL; eighteen grandchildren, twenty four great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Alberta was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander Edwards, mother, Lula Ross, father, Britt Robinson, brothers, Johnny Robinson, James Robinson, sisters, Queen Esther Proctor, Victoria Parker, Annie Mae Leonard, Idella Thomas, and Christine Baker.

Visitation will be held 3 to 6PM and a wake will be 6 to 7PM Friday August 3, 2012 at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church. A funeral service will held at 11AM Saturday August 4, 2012 at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Stone Brothers Funeral Home and Chapel.
